I have been driving around in the truck for about a week now and just noticed something above my head. It is about 1.5" in diameter and has a "grill" over it. Does anyone know what this thing is?

It reads your brain waves. You can telepathically communicate with your truck after you calibrate it. You can calibrate it throught the DIC using your steering wheel controls.

Aluminum foil worn over your head will block the signal! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

All right guys, this thing takes enough of my brain waves just to operate it. Do you not know I take it, or is it new to the 04's?

Really?

At first I thought it was the ONstar mic., but I think thats the little black thing on the side of the overhead console

So where is the one for the passenger side? I know that it doesn't have one but if it is to regulate for both sides seems kind of funny that it doesn't have one for that side also. Anyways thanks for the real answer, kind of what I thought.

The microphone is attached to the overhead console, and I can only guess that speaker looking thing above your head and off to the left by the pillar area is a speaker for onstar maybe? If you get the phone attachment? *shrug*
I really have no idea though, sorry.
Mine is a 2004 as well equiped with onstar and I have it there as well.

no no no it called n asperator its a little motor with a fan and circulates the air in the head liner and is designed to keep the dust lower..... its junk just waite until it starts to wine..will give you a headache...get it replaced right before your out of the 3/36. just say at times it makes noise and they should replace it.

Patrick, Dude, you're funny...
If you can a hold of a set of Helms service manuals for 2003, check out volume 1 of 5 on page 1-268 in the HVAC Systems- Automatic section it shows you the replacement procedure for the Inside Air Temperature Sensor Assembly located in the headliner above the drivers door...

So what's the final conclusion? I thought the small vent grill above the drivers head was a mic for the OnStar aswell.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif Had no clue what the black thing on the side of the over head console was.
