Just needing to know if the radio #15229837 will work in an 03 silverado with a lux amp swap.

nope...its a Buick Rendevouz nav unit...which would make it one of those NON-Bose nav units. It has a small amp inside of it for use in trucks that did not come with the Bose system.

I can make it work with or without an amp swap if you're interested.

A-HA! So it really doesn't matter what the NAV unit came out of, just like the 6 discs? Its all a matter of programming? Ben and I were wondering about that very thing.....

Very good piece of info there.

Yeah, If you have access to the diagrams, you'll see that the Buick has an amp. Doesn't matter if it's bose or not. The Y91 just means that it uses a class 2 signal to turn on the amp. The other bose systems in the silverado use a direct wire from the amp to the radio. I'll have to look up the diagrams, but I believe the buick uses a non class 2 amp or non lux setup. So, if you upgrade to the Y91 amp, I don't think it will work. If you're looking to upgrade and still use the same radio, I can help you set up the radio for lux.

Ahh alright thanks Dan...I wasnt sure if the Rendevouz had an amp or not...I just assumed it had the base level (UQ3/UQ5) audio where the amp was internal to the head unit.

Let me put in a plug for machomachodan. He just changed my new hu from lux to non-lux. I was going to do the amp swap but the $250+ prices on ebay made me rethink my plan. Thanks to machomachodan I was able to keep my hu and save a bunch of money by using my premium amp. A fair price, quick turnaround, great communication- what's not to like? I'd encourage anyone to use his services.:)

Thanks for the plug. I was wondering how the install went. Glad everything worked out.

You're welcome, Dan. Everything worked like a charm. Now if I can just put my hands on a 6 disc changer I'll be set.
