mercon v atf, though for newer fords, says it's rated for allison c4 applications also. any thoughts on this. search didn't reveal anything;)

So does Amsoil... they also say they're rated for Toyota T-IV.
Good luck at getting Allison or Toyota to agree.

Use Transynd, Dex-III, or Dex-VI and you don't have to sweat the warranty.

If Merc were $1.50/qt and Dex were $5, it might be worth the "risk", but there's no significant cost savings between Merc and Dex-III

Reading the stats on the latest Mercon V ( SP I believe ) it looks better on paper than TranSynd for clutch bite. The latest stuff from Citgo ( QuatraSyn which I use ) is rated for Fords , BMW, and all heavy truck applications. I would not jump on this fluid just yet. Be nice if one of our oil experts chimes in.
