I have a 2500 HD Chevy Duramax, allison tranny. I have had almost no trouble with this truck since I bought it in June 03. I had a transferfuel tank installed on Monday Feb. 2 and they could not complete the job due to a filler neck not in the parts. They did every thing else. I drove the truck until Friday Feb. 6 and had no problem. I could not put fuel into the tank until I got the filler neck. After the filler neck was installed and I got on the road the first turn I made with the signal lights on as I hit the brakes the lights started flashing very fast. I stopped and turned the 4 way flasher on and the tail lights were very dim. The stop lights on top of the cab was flashing and so were the license plate lights. I went back to the place that installed the tank and they undid the wiring to the tank and I still had the trouble. They put every thing back and I went to the Chevy dealer next door. They found a loose ground from where the tank was installed and charged me $96. Before I could get home the trouble was back. The trouble comes and goes. I have been all under the truck and when it is work ok removed the grounds and it still works ok. I have cleaned the grounds and got a good connection. I have got 5v at the rear tail lights when it is going on. I have no idea why it comes and goes. The tank is fused piggy back on the winshield wiper fuse. The is where the Transflow Company wants it. I have read all the instructions and can find nothing wrong with the instulation. Please help I need this truck as it is my daily driver as well as pulling my 5th wheel.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Tom The truck is now at he dealer who charged me and I got my $96 back. I took it to a hitch shop and they removed the transflow unit as well as the brake controller and I still got problems. The touble is somewhere in the truck.. You can hit a bump in the road and the trouble will come and go.Edited by: bearnc1

Do you have a bed liner installed? Check any associated wiring harness' and connectors under the bed and in the frame rails following them towards the firewall. You can also try removing the positive battery cable(s) from the battery(s) and then reconnecting (basically shutting down the juice for a short time). Check your trailer connector also. It sounds like you are getting a poor ground and it is feeding back through the relay system or a faulty relay.

Good Luck!

I just got back from a almost 400 miles trip with the truck. Going was ok and I was pulling a 34 ft. 5th wheel. Comming back as I hit a bump in the road the lights kept comming and going. I also got no backup lights. Something is loose but where????????

Check that wiring harnass from the hitch forward. Check all connections in that loom too. Do it with your lights on so that you can see if you find the issue, you'll need a helper to watch the lights. If that doesn't produce also check the back up bulbs for failure. Try the battery trick I mentioned earlier also. Sounds like a loose connection but then again ???

Truck is still at Mr. Goodwrench,,I have not heard a thing..I am still a little ticked off about the loose ground that was a factory ground and they tried to charge me for it.

The dealer found the missing ground wire. The people that installed the Transflow rapped the wire with some of the extra wire they had and tied it to the filler neck. I still don't understand why they would even take the ground loose. The tank had it's own ground up by the front wheel. I didn't have anytrouble until I had the tank installed. I found out about the problem in two minuites after I departed from having the tank installed. They did not charge me and even gave me a car while they worked on it. I never had anything happen like this before.

Don't know if this could be the problem or not, just something to try.

I had A truck that I worked on for 2 days in heavy repair at the GM plant I worked at.

The problem sounds the same as your describing, what I finally found the trouble to be was A bad tail light bulb.

When the bulb was made the wires fused in the glass part were loose and at times would touch.

I know this is A one in A million shot, but it can't hurt to look there.

Get another bulb and change one, if problem goes away you found it, if not switch the next one and try again.

Keep going until all the bulbs have been verified to be good. Also the front turn signals are in the same circuit.

Hope This Helps
