: 6.6 Diesel Hummer Engine
BKG-22 02-08-2004, 08:28 PM Lots-o-questions - but maybe a simple answer....
Is the 6.6L Diesel engine in the Hummer the same at the Duramax in the Chevs/GMC's? If so, wonder if they use the same OEM/Racor fuel filter?
Does the military use or have the option to use the same engine? And if so, do they use the standard filter the rest of the Duramax family does or do they put a different or additional one on?
If the military uses the Duramax at all (which may not be so) I would think they have thier own recommendations and milspec for fuel filtration since they are faced with all grades of fuel world wide.
Happened to see a butt ugly hummer today and noticed it had the "6.6 Diesel" badge on the rear. That's when all these questions came to mind!
Food for thought.....
It's the old 6.5TD
Not a 6.6 Duramax. There are no plans to put the Dmax in the Hummer.

I believe I recall a few months ago someone posting at the "page" (maybe koolgt?) that the Duramax was going into the H1's in another model year or two.
BKG-22 02-08-2004, 10:04 PM Okay - not trying to start something here, but the badge clearly said 6.6, not 6.5. Is there a 6.6 gasser? My eyes are not great, but I don't think I am mistaken on this one. Just curious at this point - but no biggy either way.
Bronco 02-08-2004, 11:47 PM Sometimes when people do a custom conversion they rebadge there vehicle. This guy could of swaped in an Dmax and Alli. Flag him down and ask him if it is the real Mcoy? Have hime pop the hood for proof. On the other hand there are alot of jokers that change one little part and rebadge there f150 to f250 or change there S10 into a Escalade.
Camstyn 02-09-2004, 01:12 AM Are you sure it's not THIS badge?

BKG-22 02-09-2004, 10:55 AM Hmmmm... now you have me wondering. But the badge was a longer silver one, like the existing Duramax badge - but it did not say Duramax on it. As far as catching up with owner, I am in So. Cal. this week on business and saw it near LAX - so I doubt I will see it again. Nice picture though, Camstyn. My guess is that someone was playing games with thier Hummer http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif..... lots of cars around here seem to retro-fitted "Fast and Furious" style. Not my personal taste - but to each his own.
Oh well, thanks for the input guys. I know we have more important things to digest out here so I will drop it for now. Thanks again! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Sure wish I had my truck instead of this dog of a rental!!!!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Silveradogs 02-11-2004, 10:19 PM I Like the front Bumber on the LSSV. Almost gives it a taste of the old Deuce and a Half look to it. Might have to see about that from the parts guy.
Eric, other techs? Any other pics available?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
rescueadam 02-12-2004, 12:17 AM We've got one CC HD DA running around camp here (Camp LeMonier, Djibouti, Africa). The SF boys have it. It's painted desert tan. All the military Humvees have the 6.5, no Dmax. The newer ones have 4L80Es though.
Silveradogs 02-12-2004, 07:38 AM Any Pics?
