When I plugged in my warmer last night it made a strange sound..

Almsot like a fan came on!!

Did it again a few minutes ago as well... Its only about 45* here, but I have to get up early and its such a pain with the EGR blocker to drive around town to class with the Engine Temp. @ 58* bright and early and in a rush!!!

Should it make a strange sound??? I will check again in about 30 minutes to see if ti continues!!!

Just the water heating up. Noise is normal.

I have not read manual on the block heater, but how long can it be plugged in at night. Can I plug in at 10-11 at night and unplug at 7am?

There is no harm done by leaving it plugged in as long as you like. However; there is no additional benefit gained by leaving it plugged in longer than 4 hours. The block will reach it's max temp by then and additional time just adds to your electric bill.

only problem of all night is the power draw, 1500 watts IIRC (6-10cents/hr) , so could get expensive if done every day.

Just go to wal-mart and get a timer...

cost $10.00, set it to turn on about 3:00, and off at 8:00
