Here is my oem filter with 11k (4k without nictane 7k with) and it looks good. It did have some rust when I bought it new. It seems the rust never got any worse. The small spots in the botton were dirt not rust. The rust was on the water in filter side.

It looks like I could have gone another 10K miles before removing. I will change the nictane (which has 7k now) in another 8k miles. I think alternating the filters at 180 degree intervals will allow them to filter better. I have read they filter better after being used a while. I have run primrose 405/409 since nictane (7k miles). Im guessing that those big particles in the bottom got there before the nictane filter (4k miles to do it).

Some one posted a thread here saying the oem mounted to the engine with all the vibration would shake the dirt through the filter. From seeing other posts stating only a 14% effectiveness at 2 mics for the oem. Its supposed to be a 2 micron filter. Why isnt it working to 2 mics? Is it the vibration from the engine? Would it be wise to isolate the oem to the frame to reduce vibration?
