Is there any way to test a converter while it's in or out of the truck. When I tear my tranny down, I'd like to be sure the converter is in good shape.

Are these things bomb proof? I'm just thinking of all those times sitting at the line with the truck at 2300rpm's waiting for the go light.

If the converter was working properly before teardown, and the hub looks good, and there is not much debris inside the trans, you are good to go.
