is it possible to lift the truck 2 inchs?
i don't want 4,6 or 8 inchs. just a little so i could fit some bigger rubbers without problems with snow chains.
what about lifting block for the rear and crank the bars up front?
thanks

Kind of. You can get 2" in the front by raising the torsion bars. You may have to change torsion bar keys to do this. You can also put a 1" spacer block in the rear. I have done this. I am running 285s on 16x8s. I have also tied back my parking brake cable and reformed the inner fender liners. I have a full front end replacement which elimiates clearance problems on the forward side of the tires. I am also running Bilsteain shocks.
I do ocassionally rub on the front, and there is no way I could run chains. It is possible for me to get another .75 to 1" of lift, but the ride gets very choppy if I do so and I don't really gain that much more clearance. I am told the choppy ride is due to getting the shock out of the center portion of its travel. I have a 1" spacer under the top mount of my shock, so my Bilsteains are within an inch of their normal center. My truck rides like stock, maybe even better. If somone made a shock for these rucks that was 2-3" longer, we may be able to get a full 3" lift by cranking the torsion bars and still keep a smooth ride. I think you'd probably want to flip the tire rod ends with 3" of lift.
Based on all the research I have done as well as my own experience, it seems the HD CV axles are very durable and cranking the bars a couple inches won't significantly affect their durability. However, I still don't really like it. On the plus side--and the original reason I cranked by bars--having the front diff an inch or two higher than stock makes a huge difference when driving on "rutted" roads.
I will probably put a lift kit on this summer so I can run chains and not worry about rubbing.Edited by: afp1

I did a 2" lift by installing the "green keys" torsion bar keys and 2" blocks on the back. The green keys lifted my truck closer to 3" for some reason, and I added air bags to the rear so I'm at 3" now.

Where did you get your 1" shock extender and 1" spacer for the rear? Did you replace the shackles?
Thanks.
Freddy,
I made the 1" spacer out of some machine washers and a large nut--which was what I had on hand. The easier way would be to get some machine washers of the proper size at a fastener store.
The 1" rear block came from http://www.hill4wheeldrive.com/ along with my torsion bar keys.
