I am putting a new system in the truck, deck, door speakers front and rear that will run ofr of the deck and an amp that will power a sub. I bought componet speakers JL audio that have a cross over. The directions say NOT to put the cross over in the door because of moisture. Where should I put them and how do I now run new wires into the doors? Any suggestions please?

I have always out mine in the door, just be sure to mount it up and out of the way, there is a slot under the speaker hole in our trucks

Another way to do it is in the kick panels, its old school and a B**** to run the wiring through the gromet but it works

Don't mount them in the doors... Every time you close the door you banging the cross over. I had a set in the doors once and one blew out. All the good setero shops will tell you mount in the kick plate or do what did and ran new wires all the way to behind my back seat...

you can mount them in the door...just make sure they are mounted very sturdy and wrapped in a plastic bag.......mine have been mounted like this for 9 months and i have not had 1 issue....also have 2 kids that love to slam the doors hard

ps. a good stereo shop mounted them there:exactly:

I mount my crossovers under the dash and run the wires through the factory boot.

The door is a no no IMO, but I've be known to get water in my doors when I go play in the rivers back home.

Here in the northeast you get water in the doors from the heat and cold cycles...

I just had a JL crossover go bad in one of my doors. I ordered a set of infiniti's six and a halfs in a three way speaker, this way I don't have to worry about cross overs in the front where the doors are always being opened and closed.

mine are mounted under the rear seat but there's a sub box there to screw them to. just find a place out of the way like under the dash to mount them.

Where are you mounting your amp? are you making a small rack for it or something? You could always make it a little bigger and put the x-overs on it.

I used a piece of solid 16awg wire to fish through the rubber door grommet then once I got that through duct taped two 12awg speaker cables to it and pulled the whole mess through. It's about the easiest way I've found to get the wires though. Oh and make sure you pop that grommet off both sides before you try to fish the wire through, it's a lot easier.

I also think puting them in the doors is a bad idea...wet in there. Stereo shops put them in the doors because it is the fastest way to go. I have mine under my cup holder... pics are in my signature.
