Hi all!

I am looking at picking up my first new vehicle ever next wednesday, and I am wondering about getting the extended warranties.

I am getting an 06 LBZ CC 4x4 GMC SLT. I do not plan on moding it much at all. At best, maybe something that is switchable to give me an extra 50-75 hp. I will be getting the 265 tires for it because I hate the factory pizza cutters and I *may* lift it just 2 or 3 inches for a little more clearance and go up to a 285 or 305 - but this is very doubtful. I allready have my big lifted 4x4 blazer so I want to keep this truck a worker.

I will be using it to do a LOT of city driving and pulling a 20-24 foot enclosed trailer, which I doubt will ever exceed the ratings, fairly frequently. I will not be surprised if I put 30-40k a yr on this truck.

I know the factory warranty is 36 and 3, and the drivetrain is 100k and 5 or 7 years? What exactly is covered in that "drivetrain" warranty?

is the extended bumper to bumper warranty worth it?

Thanks in advance,

Vic

If you are going to do anything to the motor (other than exhaust) to gain that extra hosepower, you most likely will void any factory warranty. I have owned a 1996 Chevy Dually, 2001 Chevy HD and a 2004 F250 Diesel (being bought back as a lemon), and had no problems getting warranty service even though I had lifted the trucks. The only thing they wont cover is the suspension (of course). I would be real hesitant about putting any type of programmer on the engine if you are expecting GM to cover it under warranty. Good luck and enjoy your new ride. My 2006 Chevy Crew-cab LBZ LT3 4x4 is scheduled to be here around the first week of November and I cant wait!!!!!!!!!

First word in modding is outa sight outa mind and what they dont see they cant ***** about;) 265's shouldnt be a problem but they may get goofy with you on troubleshooting and make you put factory sized tires on before they will try to diagnos depending what it is.

Warantte for the motor is pretty good and 100k anywho. A fully built allison isnt that much if your stocker pops in the unlikely event. Extended warantees generaly dont make sense but they work out ok for some poeple. You will probably pay more for the warantee than what you get outa it but if your the kinda person that dosnt like to save then they can get your stuff fixed. I look at it as financing your repairs up front and paying a bit more for peace of mind.

Moving to the appropriate forum too;)
