Help! Ideas please! Its not the duramax, but maybe one you guys can help.

I need some help troubleshooting my 1994 Chevy ½ ton 350/auto. I tried to start it at lunch. I could turn the ignition and the instrument panel would be dead. Classic dead battery? One hitch though. After 5 or 6 tries the instrument panel suddenly lights up (flickers) and I get a buzzing sound (the door chime has been removed). Sounded kinda like a bad relay trying to close.

So, what do you guys think? Anyone have the same thing happen? The truck has given 233,300 trouble free miles with most all of the truck being original (motor, tranny, even the a/c!).

Battery connection/wasted wires?

Sounds like the ignition switch. They have been known to go out!

I've heard of this before and agree with Lonewolf867 that it is the ignition switch.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Thanks for the help guys. Turned out to just be a dead battery. I wouldn't have questioned if the truck would have just stayed dead, instead of flickering and the volt guage telling me I had enough power. Oh well! Thanks again.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
