Greetings,

I'm pondering buying a 97 6.5 td Chevy Extended cab short bed. It currently has the stock rally wheels and skinny tires. Would something like this fit and what problems might I incounter?

Nope, those rims wont fit they are only six lug. Your 6.5 will be an eight lug.

Actually, sounds like he has a 1500 or LD2500 6 lug truck ("S" engine means light duty EGR version of the 6.5), and if so, those wheels will fit and should look great on your 97.

Thanks for the input guys!

Would I have any problems if I put a 265 or 285 on it. Any problems with scrubbing on the front end? Would the speedometer be off by much?

I will not be hauling or pulling with this very often so I'm not worried about load ratings. Maybe in the future it'll pull a small pop-up type camper.

Thanks again!
Paul

265's no problem, 285's likely to rub unless you crank up your torsion bars a bit. Your speedometer will be off with either tires, obviuously more with the 285's. I wouldn't do the 285's unless you have 3.73's (you most likely have 3.42's). Very easy to make speedometer corrections on our trucks. Do a search in the 6.5 forum.
