what is your real world boost range? There are a couple of threads on this subject, but I wanted to see some real world boost numbers.

Thanks,

It's not the 3 BAR MAP, but with a 10k pot wired into the map with the factory waste gate controller I was able to hit 18lbs of boost before the ECM let the waste gate open. Since then I've turned it way down and WOT can hold the boost at 10lbs and hold 3 - 4 Lbs at 67-70 MPH. Sorry to change topic. I thought about getting the 3 bar map but the price of 10k pot to good to pass on. Are you thinking about getting the 3 bar map?

I have a turbo master and the 3 bar map is used to keep computer from setting off the 2036 code for boost.

DSG -

Does the ECM clip fueling to reduce boost without the 3bar MAP? If so, does it throw/store a code after clipping fuel to reduce the boost. I have the TM as well, and am unsure if the peak-drop charateristic is the wastegate opening or the ECM clipping fuel delivery...? I had modified my TM at the 8 PSI setting to help prevent the normal peak-drop action once boost is reached. I have since cranked it up more, but am now getting peak-drop phenomenon again...:help:

BTW - I am getting no codes when this happens...is this just the TM doing it (again)?

When I had my 3 bar map I could hit 18-20 psi no problem. But, all that boost does you little good without fuel. I have since then switched to a stock map and reflash with turbo master and I can currently still hit 20 PSI at will.

So, if my ECM is clipping will it throw a code? Do you think there is a chance that I need the 3bar MAP or "boost fooler" when running 10PSI with the TM?

NO code, just de-fuel, The boost fooler " fools" the PCM into thinking there is less boost, theby raising the boost to normal level, ( plus the extra boost it don't know about)
IE boost fooler, fooling the PCM....

If you use boost fooler with a vacuum modulated turbo, you will not get a defuel,

With a mechinical control, than a high " boost fooler seting is required, but still no guarentee that code will not set, as PCM does not have control of boost.

Wheee, hope this makes a tad of sense...

I was curious to see what levels of boost a 3 bar would give while cruising on the highway, towing and around town driving. I like the 99 ECM code, so I was looking for just a little bit extra without going with a reflash. At least I wanted to hear from anyone who followed that route.
