Hi All, with all this talk about low power dogs, how can you tell if yours might be one? I don't tow anything right now so I don't have anything to compare with. I get great mileage now, 18-20 mpg. Not planning on towing for at least a year or so. Any ideas on other ways to see if a truck is up to the task? Thanks Alot. Gene. 2005 LLY Crew Cab- completely stock.

Go rent large trailer from a rental company and load it up. Let us know what you think. Mine, bone stock, pulls like a dream with plenty of power to spare.:)

If you are getting 18 to 20, then I would say things are all good. The reason it doesn't feel like it has much there, is because it is not working hard. The truck itself is nothing for that engine to pull. You put a load against it, and build some boost, and it will be there. I wouldn't just go pull something for no reason.

This engine in stock form is not going to accelerate like a gas burner. It takes a little while because the computer is not letting very much fuel into it from a dead stop. It is set to accelerate at a slower rate. That saves driveline parts and other things as well. Also, helps on the fuel thing.

Believe me, when you load it, it will be there.
