On occasion my 2004 2500HD's brake pedal kicks back upon application of the brakes. This happens relatively infrequently and only after medium stretches of highway without braking. The pedal kicks back and then the brakes apply. During the pedal kickback/pulsation there is a delay in braking (obviously not good in emergency situations).
My friendly mechanic ( a gas guy) suggested that diesels run off a different braking assist (not vacumn) and that it may account for the difference in feel. But it only does that weird thing once and every application of the brake afterwards is normal in feel with immediate braking.
What I'm feeling feels like the pulsation you get when ABS is activated, but there is no reason for ABS to activate under the conditions I've experienced.
Any ideas?
Steve
