: My first code ..... P0101...

Well I finally pulled my first code......I thought for sure it was going to be a P1039:D

but instead I pulled a P0101.

I have done some searching and it looks like my modified K&N intake kit might be to blame. I first saw the code Saturday morning, got home cleared it and then ran all day Saturday and Sunday no problem. Then this morning coming to work.....it showed up again. I checked for leaks in the intake hoses but none. So do I clean the MAS first and try it or just switch back to the stock air box and ditch the K&N intake?

Any help would be appreciated, especially from anyone running the K&N intake kit.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

k&n are famous for 101 as the have the maf at the middle of the tube and that is a highpreasure point, if you are going to clean it use only electrical grade contact cleaner and make sure it is dry for awhile before use and dont touch it with bare hands , also check to see that the filkter is not to oiled , as that also was a k&n issue

Thanks for the info. THe K&N was fresh from the box oiled but I had it on the truck for a few weeks before the code but mabye the oil finally built up enough to set it off. I make sure to clean it with the good contact cleaner and let it dry. I'll also clean the filter again and oil it right, can't imagine it would come from the factory over oiled but who knows. Thanks for the info. sounds like there's hope to make it work.

Thanks again, anybody else??

I wouldnt bother cleaning/reoiling it. Most of the excess oil has already been pulled through. You'll just be starting over again. I had similar issues with a K&N on a gasser. Needless to say, they dont do much for me with their MAF clogging and sub-par filtering ability.
