I just started doing research on lift kits for my truck. I have heard pros and cons for most. I am hearing more good than bad about the fab tech and the superlift. 4 wheel parts really pushing the Pro-Comp system. I am looking at a 6" lift with 35's. Not for rock climbing or aggressive off roading mainly for looks. Any suggestions? I look at alot of pictures on this sight but they do not tell you about problems or lack of problems.

noproblem, I have a 6" Superlift w/ 315/75/16 BFG's on my truck. Just about to turn 30K miles w/ absolutely no problemshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif Truck rides as good or better than stock, and I am getting vey even tire wear with normal rotations. I too just have it for the "look", and rarely go 4-wheeling. Usually the worst it gets is the dirt roads where I live. Maybe aggressive off-roaders like other set-ups, but mine has been greathttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif I think the biggest thing is finding a competent shop to install it. All the kits look like they are well made, so a quality install is key. Good Luck, DinoMaxhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif ps, if you want to see pic's of my truck w/ the lift, you can go to the link in my sig., or I can e-mail them to you.

I will be getting a CST 6"-8" kit as soon as my truck comes in I have found only good comments and seems to be the best around.

I'm looking at running 35's or 37's.

I'm using a 6" RCD and I love it. Truck drives better then stock. Clears 315's withonly minor trimming. $2400 installed.

Have you located where you are gonna purchase it? What kinda price have they given you?

no problem, thats kind of funny that you mention that about four wheel parts, they told me the exact same thing, really pushing pro comp lifts. They said that the pro comp was a lot better built than superlift, and a lot better deal than Rancho, so who knows maybe they need to get rid of some inventory.

Four Wheel Parts pushes Pro-Comp because they own it. That's why they will also give you the best price compared to other kits they sell. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Pro-Comp and I haven't heard of any problems with their kits.

We have a outfit (Trails End) that was actually about 300.00 cheaper than 4 wheel parts. They both wanted close to 4,000.00 for the system. I figure if I am paying that kind of money I am going to do my research and get the best for that 4,000.00. 4 wheel wants 10.00 for shop supplies ( compressed air, grease, and towels) and 80.00 for a exhaust mod. I asked them about the shop supply charge they told me that was a custom charge in the industry. However the other 3 places in town have not started that fee yet. I think they are a little high but there size and reputation might be worth the extra 2-300.

Not yet. My local shop is checking in to it for me and I also kinda know the guy. They mostly deal with Febtech but I'm going to go with CST. I will price shop after he gets me a price to see if a better deal is out there.

Any suggestions?

The only online store I have found to carry CST is Performancelifts.

http://performancelifts.com/cgi-bin/cart (http://performancelifts.com/cgi-bin/cart)

When I get my truck I want to go all out with the Bilstein 7100's and the leafs in the rear so I can tow. Let me know if you get any other info on the CST.

I'll be going with the RCD 6" kit. It will have the double shock hoops up front along with teh traction bars in the rear.

All,

RCD is the only lift kit out there that offers Bilstein shock with their kits. and everybody knlws that Bilstein shocks are legendary for off road racing. I know they also have really cool track bars and double shock hoops too. I have a RCD kit on my truck and would recommend nothing else. Check them out ar www.rcdsuspension.com (http://www.rcdsuspension.com)

I just ordered a rcd 6" yesterday (tuesday) I am taking my truck in tomorrow (thurs) to get it installed. I am putting the lift and 315 terra grapplers. I can still back out if someone convinces me that I am making a mistake. I checked on the CST it was 800.00 more installed. Basically I am getting my tires for free. The shop told me these were 1a and 1b of lift kits. Edited by: noproblem

noproblem,

That is the same setup that I am using. The Terra Grapplers are great, real quiet and look good. You will love the lift and it will improve your ride. I had to do a little trimming for the fronts but not much. If you want a picture of what it will look like PM me.

Thanks for the pics. Truck looks good. I watched the guys work on my truck for about 4 hours. They started cutting pieces of my truck off so I left the camera and asked them to take pics but I could not watch anymore. I got lucky on the shock, they are not the yellow and teal shocks they are the nickel. I was going to have them powder coated if they were yellow so that saved me 100.00. My truck is the same color but I do not have the cc so I hope it does not look funny. Tall truck, big tires small cab. I am picking it up at noon Friday. Kinda looking foward to it.

HDDuece, The tires in your pic's look like BFG KO's, but you posted you had Terra Grapplers. Is that an old pic? Just curious, 'cause I might switch to the Terra's next time. DinoMaxhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

around 3100.00 installed with the 4 new tires. I have a few pics on my website of the truck during construction but the webmaster has not finished yet. I took 70 some odd but he only loaded around 20. But can get a pretty good idea of how extensive of a job it is.

Is everyone getting new springs in the rear or are you just putting blocks back there. Is it worth it to get new springs?

I am unsure what exactly it was but they had to cut it so the new piece would fit in. It was right behind the oil pan. The new peice fits perfectly. The guy told me that all lifts do not require the cutting but RCD does.

I did not get new springs they just put 4 inch blocks. But as I mentioned on another page it rides better than stock.

I have ordered the rear traction bars for the rear axle. I think I might have a little axle wrap so I am going to try to put those on to see if that fixes my problem.
