I have 2001 Dodge 2500 4x4 Diesel 6 speed stnd. It just started acting up (go figure it has been paid off for about 3 months). If I tromp on it and go though the gears it starts to sputter an buck above 2300-2400 rpms. I have already replaced the fuel filter, but no help. Has anyone had this happen to their's or someone they know? Thanks for any help in advance.

Check your pressures at the pump, but most importantly you need to check fuel supply restriction to the lift pump. Your symptoms are indicative of lack of fuel. Either bad lift pump(very common), or fuel supply restricted in the tank pickup(another common overlooked item). Or a combo of both.

Yeah, check pump pressure, your truck will have the schrader valve on the pump, so it's pretty easy. Do the key trick and see if you have any codes. You may have a code but it wont show the ECM codes just the companion codes. If the key trick works, then go to AutoZone and have them hook up the code reader for free. Good luck.

Got a code P 1693. Can anyone tell me what that is? I tried Autozone they said there numbers don't go up that high I would have to contact the dealer to find out what that code means.

1693 is a PCM code that means there is a code stored in the ECM. There should have been 2 sets of codes, no? It should show the ECM codes, mine has done it in the past.

The code you have means there is a code in a companion module. Most likely the ECM but it could be for the ABS(I can't recall off the top of my head if the 01 RAM had the PCI bus or not). You'll need to get all the codes.
