: dealers word on injectors
Wickedsprint 02-03-2004, 02:19 PM Asked a different manager at the dealer today on how many duramax's have had injector issues at thier dealer. He said roughly 10 since they came out and they have pretty much all been 01s. Two other common themes, they all only leaked, never failed, only noticed due to fuel in the oil, and all happened before 100K. The last similarity is they were pretty much ALL fleet trucks...says they leak past the sleeves or something. Just passing information on, information is power.
rickles04 02-04-2004, 11:15 AM my dealer never had one single truck at all with injector probs
dmaxalliTech 02-04-2004, 11:41 AM mine eitherhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

dmaxalliTech 02-04-2004, 02:59 PM If you mean me, I asked him when I was picking my truck up for a warranty repair, thanks. Not you... some dude on the east coast
the winemaker_2004 02-04-2004, 11:24 PM dmaxallitech...this question is not so much to do with the diesel itself as to the ability to tow..I seen /read on some formum thata 2500hdhas the same drivetrain, axels, rear end and springs as a 3500srw or drw[[all of them with duramax/allision]..It would seem that there should be a differnce in springs[rear] for ea truck configuration..I am planning on purchasing a d/a ..but unsure series..any help would be appreciated karl webb
FourBeer 02-05-2004, 01:02 PM I believe everything is the same EXCEPT there is an extra leaf spring on the 3500, which gives it a larger payload, not any increased towing capacity.
There is a slight increase in 5th wheel towing capacity of the 3500 because of the 4.10 gear ratio. On paper, if you put a 4.10 rear end on a 2500HD, you will actually get a larger fifth wheel towing capacity than the 3500 because the 2500HD truck is lighter.
In reality this is not really true, because the pin weight on a 15,000 fifth wheel would be too much for the 2500HD's payload to handle. If a guy could put the extra leaf spring on the 2500HD, you would have more towing capacity than the 3500, but the dual wheels of the 3500 would make it more stable and safe.Edited by: FourBeer
FourBeer 02-05-2004, 01:05 PM Karl,
The ball hitch trailering of both the 2500HD and the 3500 is 12,000. Only the fifthwheel towing capacities differ from the 2500HD to the 3500.
The 5th wheel towing capacities are:
(Notice the 2500 is higher)
2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab,Long Box, 3.73 : 15,300
3500 4x4 Crew Cab, Long Box, 4.10 : 15,000
But Payload is :
(Here the 3500 wins because of the extra leaf spring)
2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab,Long Box : 3,181
3500 4x4 Crew Cab, Long Box : 4,942

4x4man 02-05-2004, 01:17 PM I would also think the addition of the stock 265's helps as well on the 3500 SRW. E rated 265's are in the neighborhood of 3400lbs each as opposed to the E rated 245's which are 3032lbs each.
Frank Blum 02-05-2004, 09:51 PM The Duramax equipped trucks only come with 3.71 gears or did I miss something? Later! Frank
FourBeer 02-05-2004, 11:44 PM Ooops. You are right. I was looking in the wrong column.
neverenuf 02-06-2004, 12:11 AM Duramax comes with 3.73 gears.
FourBeer 02-06-2004, 12:53 PM Didn't I say he was right 30 minutes before your post? Did I miss something?
