Lock your keys in your car? Here's a solution...

If you lock your keys in the car.... and the spare keys are at home,
call someone on your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the
other person at your home press the unlock button of your key fob
(clicker), holding it near the phone on their end. Your car doors will
unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you.

Distance is no object you could be hundreds of miles away, and if
you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can
unlock the doors (or the trunk!).

Editor's Note * It works fine!
We tried it out, and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!)

Mike's Note *
I locked the car had my youngest daughter call me while I was far
away from the car. I clicked open into the phone and I could hear the
car doors unlock through her cell phone.. My daughter confirmed that sure
enough the doors opened......

I just got this passed on to me by my mother-in-law. Has anyone heard
this one before? :help2:

The only way that would work is if the frequency transmitted by the remote door unlock is an audible frequency. I've never heard a humming noise when I push the unlock button!

There is no way that this method will work!

Jeep used to use an infrared keyless entry system. Perhaps you could video the infrared signal on your keyless remote, send the video through email and put a computer monitor up to the infrared sensor on your jeep? :D ):h

a local radio station tried it one time with no success. It'd be a cool little trick if you could get it to work, but onstar will have to be your best bet(and that doesn't always work either)

Sounds like BS to me. Especially since the key fob is an RF (radio frequency) short range transmitter. No possible way to "transfer" that signal over a cell phone.

Onstar works great, I've used them three times already. Now I carry a spare remote in my pocket.:D

I never had a truck with a little button to unlock. I always used a coat hanger to unlock the door.

Two solutions:
1) Keep key fob on belt clip and use key only for ignition.
2) keep flat head screw driver handy along with a CB antenae.( had to use this one when my buddy left trcuk running with key in ignition while in New Mexico in July. THis led to the discovery of point #1)

in my ford I used to have.. I kept a hanger in the bed as my "spare key".. used it several times on mine and others vehicles.. all legal of course.. lol
