Needed the extra seating mainly.

Second kid, mother and father in law moving in till we sell the other house and move after I retire from the military (and eventually sell this house as well). Father in law cant drive much anymore and I get to ferry them around after work. It sounds tough but we go to Home Depot etc etc so its more company for me.

Toss in a neice or nephew that the parents in law occasionally watch and 5 seats in the truck filled up fast.

Sure going to miss it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Well it's too bad you had to sell the Dmax, but I think you'll be a lot happier with that Sub than you would have an Excursion even with a diesel.

Keep the faith, nothing is forever and there are newer Dmax's on the horizon......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

I gave F**D a chance, but the Explosion I test drive didnt want to drive a straight line and was rattly, and the Diesel Excursion wanted to wander. A panic brake (note, should tell salesman about these before you do it!) Pulled so hard left I had to let off the brake and steer back into my lane.

And the salesman and anyone there stuck to the party line of "there have never been any 6.0 Diesels returned anywhere for problems". Better timing couldnt have happened when one of my troops brought in his truck for service and stood there calling every one of them a liar. He's like me, if there are problems tell me and well deal with it. But dont lie.

The Suburban was a joy to drive after the Fords, but the 5.3 could use some help after driving the DMAX. Wife likes it, she said it had plenty of power but not enough for me to go embarrass any rice burners. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

Could have went with the Denali XL and got the 6.0 V8 !!!

A lot more $$$$$$$$$$$$$ though.

Good luck with it, I have a '03 Tahoe w/ the 5.3 V8 and am happy with it, but it is not a Duramax........http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Well, damn... my '02 Avalanche had piston slap, although I fell for the dealer's explanation that it was 'normal' and never pursued it.

That's just amazing. Thanks for the link - I have a couple of buddies with late model Chevy's that I'm going to send it to.

Yeah I got the Piston Slap page bookmarked. If mine gets it and it gets bad and my dealer wont help, Ill get out the Jegs Catalog and tear the thing down.

Looks like as soon as the one thousand yard stare goes out of the wifes eyes I might put a Banks Exhaust on it (Banks claims 30ish HP), followed by a Gas Predator or Hypertech (another claimed 25 to 30HP).

I need to do more research to see what is a good set up for GM gas engines though. Im sure there is a good ALDL connectable tuner out there someplace.

At least you didn't trade it in on an import! That is a sweet looking burb. Maybe some forced induction is in order to motivate it a littlehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

That is an awesome suburban, my dad has always owned suburbans from the late 80's till the present. He has a 1997 Suburban that is white and is the LT Model. It is a sweet ride. They are very dependable vehicles, and great comfort on the long trips with the family. You done well, I'm trying to buy my wife one, but she won't get rid of her car. Drive On, White is my choice of color.

That's why I bought the Dmax!! Had an '02 1500 with the 5.3! Started slapping at 10K miles!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif A couple of times it banged so hard I thought the piston was going to blow right out the side of the block!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ouch.gif

Then at 33K miles it started blowing smoke! I had enough so I decided to do this one last time with GM and traded the slapper in for the Dmax!! So far, I'd have to say it was worth every extra $ it cost for the Dmax.....should have done that the first time!

I got one word for you .... WHIPPLE. My buddy just got one last year and is complaining about the gutlessness of the 5.3 .... He has almost given in and is ready for the whipple. Get it and throw it on there ... just don't tell the wife :D

Nice Tahoe!

They are great except I think they should have at least dropped the 6.0 in the Z71. After driving a juiced DMAX the 5.3 is lacking pop.

Yes, we will be chasing each other around here Pepp, but its going to be fun!

As for a Wipple, DROOL. I wish I had the $4k+ to drop one in.
