B100 is presently $2.77/gal where I buy it. I have been running it straight and plan to continue until it gets too cold to do so, then I'll go back to B20. So far, runs great and smells much better running in the garage. No food smells, however. Maybe that comes from the WVO that has cooked food. I'll be putting 2000 more miles on it this week, I'm hauling a barrel of the stuff with me. I'm running heavy on the propane, so I'm not using much bio except when towing. My trip last week, which was nearly all highway, achieved 53 mpg on B100. Has anyone heard anything about an additive to lower the cloud point substantially? The guy at the co-op where I get it said something about it.

RE your pane kit....: Are you basically running the engine as a runaway?

Lemme splain: The LP is injected into the intake manifold at various rates (kinda like a gasser) only to meet a very small amount of diesel in the actual chamber.

Because as I udnerstand it, you are basically running your truck on LP, and very little diesel, correct? How does it run, ie EGT's, cold starts, etc.

This is interesting.

The lp is sucked into the engine rather than going in under pressure. I use a demand type regulator that varies flow according to the vacuum. It is self regulating, all I control is the diesel throttle. I can adjust the lp fuel curve to use anything from a ton of lp to very little. Check out my supplemental lp thread on the power and performance forum. I have 32K on the setup, I put it on when the truck only had about 400 miles on it. I am going to start developing a setup to use compressed natural gas also.

I read through it. Very interesting.

Too bad for me, LP is over $2.00 out here I think. I wonder if CNG is different.

How far can you go on 30 gallons of LP running at 2Lp:1BD?

I wonder what the emissions looks like. How many ppm sulfur is there in LP?

Had your dealer seen it? :o:

where did you get that ssetup from and how hard was it. what does it cost for a full tank of both diesel and propane compared to just straight diesel

I have just ordered Marc's kit. According to Marc, you can save a few pennies per mile IF you can get your propane for about 2/3 the cost of the diesel. Here in FL, I can get LP for $2.15 a gallon from a local supplier. Flying J truckstops have it for under $2. Diesel is $3.34, so I should be able to save some money. What I am after is a little more power, and extended cruising range.

A note about propane pricing. When getting prices, many propane distributers have wierd pricing tiers. Examples:
1. Price with their leased tank
2. Price with your owned tank, delivered
3. Price for under 50 gallons delivered
4. Price for over 50 gallons delivered
5. Price for 20, 30, 100 Lb bottles
6. Price for Forklift tanks.
7. Price for RV tank fillups
8. Price for wind blowing West
9. Price for wind blowing during a rainstorm, etc

Actually, if the price of lp is 2/3 of #2, the savings ends. You still have more power, cleaner burn, etc, but no cost/mile saving. I just got back from a FEMA trailer haul to Mississippi, got some lp in Tuscaloosa, AL, for $1.74 at Flying J. I didn't buy any diesel on the trip. I took a barrel of B100 with me. Currently, with #2 at $3.20, and no trailer, my setup is saving me 5¢/mile. My lp was $1.23/gal/.

Brianteel, check out the thread about supplemental lp on the Power/Performance forum. It explains alot about my setup.
