I am having a regular problem in starting my Duramax. Sometimes it will start, run for a few seconds, and then stop. Sometimes it won't start at all. The cure is to lift the hood and push the primer about ten times on the filter housing. Any suggestions on how to rectify the problem and avoid the under the hood maneuvers? The engine has 74,400 miles on it at this point. Thanks for any assistance.

First replace the fuel filter. Sounds like air is getting into the fuel lines. If the filter does not fix it, look at the fuel lines for cracks and pinholes. If you still have no luck, gently pressurize the fuel system and see where it's leaking.
