The same applies to the TDI as to the truck. Buy from a high volume outlet so you get fresh fuel. Put in additives as you feel they are needed.
Some feel that the Amaco premium fuel is a good choice. All we have out here is that darned carbonated fuel.

On the TDIclub, the general feeling is that CARB diesel is the best the US has to offer.
A higher cetane rating and lower sulfur make the engine smooth, better for long OCI intervals, and a lower chance for intake clogging.
Ive done a lot of out of state driving trips, and I always am glad to get back into the CARB diesel.

Only problem is that only a very few states offer carbonated fuel.
For the rest of the states, a biodiesel blend is preferred. Then again, it can be very hard to find.
So, what is a person to do? Find a high volume station. Then ask to see the spec sheet for the fuel. Make note of the cetane rating, sulfur content, and cloud point if you are in a cold area. Then compare that to other locations in the area. Pick the best one.
