Ok so I am thinking about 285s, the factory PYO wheels look great IMO but because I'll be towing I want to be on the safe sife and go with a wider wheel; probably 16x8. I know about the H2 wheels and I know I could technically mount some 285s to the PYO wheels but here is what I need: I'm looking for suggestions on aftermarket wheels that have more of a 'factory appearance'. Links or better yet, pictures would be great! I'll start it off with a few.

I do not have the link handy, but Weld Outbacks are close also.

If you will be towing you may want to stay with a FORGED wheel.

The H2's are not Forged IIRC, hoot posted some info on the ratings.

IIRC it's around 2700 lbs per wheel, so I would assume that 5400 lbs is enough ?????????

I carry tile and cement in my 2002 with H2's and "D" rated 33/12.50 Pro Comps. I have never seen a problem, however I do not transport on the highway or long distances.

If I could give some advice, I had MT Classics's that were polished aluminum and were very difficult to maintain. The chromed aluminum seems to be the way to go.

Um I believe you want forged wheels, they be stronger, so the say, oppose to casted ... Just make sure the weight rating for your application is there regardless of the wheel you choose...

As DMAXPWR said the Outback looks almost too much like stock to me. I have seen a set with factory caps on it. You have to do a double take. 16 x 8 4 5/8" backspace rated @ 3200lbs.

Agreed! I have a set of Weld Typhoons and they are nothing but a pain in the butt! The Outback are another wheel I am considering but I didn't even give any thought to using the factory caps. I see that Centerline make a wheel very similar but for some reason they don't offer it in chrome like they do the 2 wheels I posted originally.

On another note I understand load rating are very important when towing. I like and want the look of 285s and they are D rated at just over 3300lbs which is almost the equivilent of a 265 E rated tire. I understand that the 285 has a similar load ratnig because of it's size. Is this safe?

With that said the load rating on either the 285 or 265 will be higher than most forged wheels which are rated at 3200lbs (see Weld or Centerline) is this something to worry about?

I'd go for the forged 8" wheels rated at 34xx# for 10 ply rated tires. 285s on a 6.5" wheel is to much squeeze and your tires would wear in the centers.

I have been planning to contact Alcoa to see if they make wheels like our PYO's in a 16x8. I will try to remember to do so when I get home in the morning and post their response here. I am very pleased with the original wheels' looks and just want wider versions of them so I can put a wider/taller tire on "the bus". Edited by: flhrciblueice

Every forged wheel I've seen has been rated at 3200lbs.

Totally agree! If they offered them in 16x8 I wouldn't look any further.

Here are the front runners so far.

Discount Tire has wheels rated at 3400# that I think are forged for about $110 each. They are polished however.

y2kboti, these wheels look very similar to stock, except the "cutouts" are all one size instead of 2 alternating sizes. I think they are made by eagle, but they were on the truck when I bought it, so I am not 100% sure. The factory center caps do fit, which adds more to the factory look. If you want a close up of wheel/cap only, let me know. Redapple the link isn't working. I'd really like to see your picture. If for some reason you can't get it to work you can email the photo to me at y2kboti@yahoo.com.

Dinomax I'd love a close up since your running the factory caps.

Here's the close up of my wheels w/ the factory caps. They are a little dirty (i live on a dirt road), but this should give you an idea how they look. DinoMaxhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Thanks, DinoMax. I may have to get me a set of those if nothing pans out with alcoa. y2kboti, as best I can tell, they are American Eagle Alloy 194's. They are listed at wheelsforless.com at $134.95 each. They can probably be bought on ebay a little cheaper than that though.

Well, I received an answer back from alcoa today. They do not make our factory PYO's in any other size.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif It looks like I will be searching for the best price on the Eagle 194's. DinoMax, is there a load capacity stamped on the wheels anywhere? It would be nice to know before I go shopping.

flhrciblueice I was 99.9% sure they didn't offer the PYOs in any other size but it never hurts to ask. There are a couple wheels that I think would all look pretty good espically w/ the factory caps. flhrciblueice did Alcoa tell you the rating or backspacing on the PYOs?

According to AE's website the 194s w/ an 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern are rated at 3420lbs and weigh in at 23lbs.

Anyone have pictures of Alcoa 16x7 Classic wheels? They are rated at over 3700lbs. I think they look pretty good as well.Edited by: y2kboti

No, he just told me that they don't make the wheels in any other size and referred me to their website and a local dealer of their wheels for other sized wheels in a different style. I can't remember what the rating is for our pyo's, but I think someone posted it a while back. IIRC, it was around the same as the 194's.
