Went out to start the truck this morning at 0 degrees. Forgot to plug it in last night, glow plugs stayed on for about 8 seconds. Sounded real rough on the start. Walked back into garage to grab more stuff and when I returned to the truck, it nearly scared the crap outta me. About a quarter cup of oil was laying on the driveway and I shut it down immediately. Looking under the hood, I could not see any leaks. I checked the oil level and it was fine. Once I got under the truck, I could see the exodus of oil from the oil filter gasket. Cleaned it up and tried to tighten the filter. It wasn't loose. Drove it about 300 miles today with no further problems, I was paranoid about something going wrong so I looked at the filter about three times and checked the oil twice. What could have cause this? By the way, it is a GM black filter. Thanks in advance.

High oil pressure is probabbly the culprit. Could have been a cold shrunk seal on it.

Don't sweat it. My acts a little naughty on a 5 degree start too.

Mine did the same thing Friday after work. I believe it was 4-8 degrees. I also checked filter, and cleaned it off. I am using an AC Delco filter.

Thanks, I hate when things happen that I haven't read about yet.
