See posts of guys running 3rd-4low when pulling quite a bit. Tryed that combo at a pull 3 weeks ago and noticed that I was not building a whole lot of boost. Maybe 20-22lbs. I need at least 30 to make some power. Am I loosing traction that bad??? Rpms are at around 3100-3200. Am I over revving?? Seems like the truck needs to be "pulled down" more to build some power. What about going to 4th????

Your not building boost because the motor isn't working really hard. Try and add weight, raise hitch height, air down front tires, more aggressive tires, front weight bar (if allowed). Fill out your sig, so we all know what you are running, that will help answer your question more accuratley.

It is also possible depending on what program you are running you may not get much more boost than 25 or so. I modified my wastegate and that helped build more boost. Also as suggested to build boost you have to load the motor not just make it scream. Depending on how loose the organizers of the event are, add some wieght in the bed to help maintain traction.

Well most pulls in the Upper Midwest are limiting you to 8000 lbs total weight. Not many let you run weight bars. I fear that traction is the issue since we can not "load" the motor down in this gear range. Too much spinning. Will try 4th gear next or decrease more air pressure. Running 30psi in front and 50 psi in rear now.

All of us that are pulling in 3rd gear in 4-low have manuals. With an auto you should be able to hit 4th gear and lock the converter.

If you are running 3100-3200 rpms you are probably riding your rev limiter, which would cause boost to drop off somewhat. Need a program with more revs.

Whites right. It If run my edge combo only it defuels at 3600 and you can easily tell there's more power than needed cause it never hits 1200 EGT or even close to 30lbs a boost. When I run the SCT it hits 4500 rpms , hits 32 lbs a boost and usually hits 1600 EGT for a second or two. Whoops.:ro)
