Wow nice forum... never been in here before!! ):h any way, if any of you have been visiting the off topic forum then you might know I am thinking of doing a cummins re-power on my truck. I am planing on making this a top performer and using the 12 valve engine. My first question is,

1. If I want to go ahead and rebuild the engine before putting it in the truck, what are some major components I would want to upgrade before building high power? ex: pistons, cam? And how much and where should I get these parts.

2. I want to put the highest stage injectors and fuel plate in but still want to be able to tow now and then. I know I just have to watch my egts but will this compromise my towing ability? What I mean is can I still tow a large load up a long hill at a comfortable speed with those top stage parts at a resonable speed or are my temps going to climb way to fast?

the thing is, I found a 96 ext. cab short bed with the nv4500 that had been totalled in the rear. The guy only wants 1100 for the whole truck! That is why I am getting that 12 valve!
