I have been running a Edge EZ for a couple of weeks now and the effects on MPG are noticeable.
Hand calculated results are:
stock.................over 269 miles, MPG was 16.1
level 1................over 266 miles, MPG was 14.42
level 2................over 259 miles, MPG was 14.15
I have yet to try level 3 for any amount of time at all, I do not have gauges and I don't want to take a chance on killing my tranny. I kept my driving habits the same. I really wanted to see what effect the EZ would have on MPG so I kept my foot out of it except to pass another vehicle. I did not pass vehicles any more often when in level 1 or 2 compared to stock. I was a little surprised at the results.
This was a non-scientific experiment. I drove a combination of interstate highway, 2 lane state highways and city driving. Always unloaded with a bed cover installed. Neither test had a significant amount more highway than city or city than highway. Edge never made any claims regarding increased MPG on the LLY, only on the LB7 are increased MPG likely according to EDGE and it's printed on the back of the EDGE EZ box.
The EZ performs well. The power when you do put your foot into it comes on real strong yet smoothly. No surging or hard shifts. This is a great piece of performance equipment in my opinion if your expectations are reasonable and do not want to significantly modify your truck. Do not buy the EZ if you have a LLY and want to increase your fuel mileage.
Edit: No towing at any time during my informal testing. The only load was baseball equipment that stays in the bed most of the time and two kids. Also the DIC mileage was very close, the widest gap between hand calcs and DIC was 0.4 when running the EZ. DIC was within 0.2 stock (EZ removed). I did not put that in my original messege because it seems that most folks don't go by the DIC mileage. Mine seems to be fairly accurate.
