I bought my truck from a used car dealer here in America, but the truck originated in Canada. A few days after i bought it, i noticed the auto-off switch for the head lights didn't work - when you moved the switch to the auto-off position, the head lights (or DRL's if it was during the day) stayed on. I took the truck to my local GMC dealer, who came back with the answer that since the truck was originally made for Canada, the auto-off feature wouldn't work. Canadian regulations said the lights should be on all the time. They apparently called GM for this info, and said there was no way to change this, that the truck was built this way from the factory.
Does this sound right? I would figure i could at least change some module or something to get this to work. And if not, is there any other unexpected surprises i'll get from having a Canadian truck? Reading through the manual, my speedometer should be in kph's, but they must have corrected it to mph's before i bought it. Is there anything else they have to change before it would go on sale in America? Thanks for any info.
