: 4 " Rancho lift pictures
Edge82 09-25-2005, 01:46 PM I am wanting to see if anyone has pictures of a rancho 4" lift with 285's on it. I just want to make sure that the 285's don't look to small. The reason is that I just bought eagle alloy 114 18x9.5 with nitto 285 60r18. I called the company that I got the tires from and tried to get the
325 60r18 and they told me that the tire was on national back order and have been for 3 months and there was no est. time of arrival. So before I ordered my 4" rancho I was just wondering if anyone was running 285's. :help:
tophog 09-25-2005, 05:19 PM Picts in my sig ...Rancho 4" with BF 295's. 295's or 285's are the perfect size for the 4" lift. I ran 315/70R17's for awhile but they were on the border of being too big. Would rub at times at full lock.

You may want to add wheel spacers to those rims once you put the lift on. Most lifts require a minimum of 4 1/2"-4 5/8" backspacing. Those wheels have 6" backspacing. Just a note.

The eagle 114 will work with the 4" rancho won't it. My wheels are what is making finding a lift so hard. I want to make sure that I won't hit the drop spindles.
tophog 09-25-2005, 07:14 PM Any wheel over 5.25" backspacing will not work with the Rancho 4" lift. Tried lots of wheels and have ran 5.25" BS wheels with BF 295's for over a year now with no problem HOWEVER the clearance between the bulge of the tire and the spindle is minimal ..only about 1/4". I'm presently running the OEM PYO wheels with 285's and the clearance is about the same ...but my front wheels are tucked completely inside the fenderwell so I don't have the bulldog look in the front like most 4" lifts induce. A 4.5" backspaced wheel will result in at least 1" of tire tread outside the fenderwells.
If I were looking for wheels I'd personally be shopping for at least 4 5/8" backspaced wheels and no more then 5".

I already have my rims so I am trying to find a lift that will work with my wheels. Thanks for the info.

No problem ...hopefully your wheels will work with the lift. Usually the lift is first then wheels, etc. :)
Edge82 09-26-2005, 10:59 AM I know I bought my wheels thinking that I wasn't going to lift this truck. The problem that I found is once you have a lifted truck you will always have a lifted truck.
Do you know of any lift that would work with my wheels?

Not necessarily true ...I know of a member on here who recently had his 6" Fabtech lift removed. The key was he found another person who wanted his lift and they swapped front diffs so he had the original ear on the front diff that's normally cut off when a lift is installed.
Most all lifts require at least 4 5/8" backspacing ...as I stated I know I can run wheels with more offset with the Rancho 4" lift but sacrafice the clearance between tire/spindle. I doubt you will find any lift that works with 5.25+" offset. I could be wrong though ...
tophog 09-26-2005, 11:12 AM If you would be going with the expense of a lift it would be much simpler to just sell your wheels and get one's that work/look the best with whatever lift you decide on. There's more then one way to skin a cat.

is that just a 4 in lift or does the back have a 4 inch block instead of a 21/2 block?
1SAST 09-27-2005, 04:21 PM back has just the small 2 or 2 1/2 block that Rancho provides. I am unsure of the exact size.

Truck looks great. The tires look bigger than 285's
1SAST 09-27-2005, 06:44 PM that they are not.:D :D In all seriousness I am very happy with my truck the lift and the tires. They are a little loud at freeway speeds but nothing to bad. I think these are the perfect size tires for this lift. That being said if a persons ambition is to only run 285/75, I think there are much cheaper options than a lift. I personally just like a taller truck.

I think that your truck looks just right. I was worried that the 285's would look small with a 4" lift. After seeing your pictures it makes up my mind that I am going to do the same thing.
duramaxphil 09-28-2005, 02:05 AM what is bigger 33's or 285's?
1SAST 09-28-2005, 03:34 AM basically the exact same size tire, just measured differently. Basically a 285 is a 33 inch tire. Good luck with your lift and let me know if I can answer any other questions:grd:

duramaxphil 09-28-2005, 10:51 AM well im in the process of getting a duramax right now. i dont have it yet but i want to get a lift right away. i like the rancho look but i hear trailmaster is the same and cheaper. my question is if i put a 4 in trailmaster on, and then put an add a leaf on the back will the shocks still work and how much more height will that add to the back?
1SAST 09-28-2005, 02:30 PM I am not sure how serious you are about getting a Duramax but mine is currently for sale if you were to be interested. I am not to familiar with Trailmaster lifts but with a 4 inch lift I think the back would need to be raised about two inches to keep at least level with the front end.
