Can anyone recommend what the change intervals are on the smaller CAT 0750 fuel filter in a PRE or POST OEM setup? Edited by: KevTech

KevTech,

Here's what I did...

The CAT web site claims their high efficiency filters last up to 250 hours. I got this information from: http://www.cat.com/services/shared/parts_n_service/04_filters/fluid_filters/_filters/high_eff_fuel_filters.html

To calculate how many miles I could go on a filter I simply divided the miles on my odometer by the number of operating hours. This gave me the average miles per hour over the life of the truck, which turned out to be 40 miles per hour. Then I multiplied the average miles per hour by 250. For me this equaled a 10,000 mile filter change interval.

Now, It is my understanding the CAT 0750 filter is actually for a large CAT generator and I ASSUME this OEM application would pass much more fuel through the filter in an hour than our DMAX will. So, I am planning to change my CAT 0750 filter on or before 15,000 miles and when I change the stock fuel filter. I do keep an extra CAT fuel filter and strap wrench in the truck just in-case.

My CAT 0750 is installed before the stock filter and I have 11,000 miles on the CAT filter right now. I am planning to change it in the next 2,000 miles as I will be at the 30,000 mile mark and it will be time to change the stock filter.

Hope this helps.

Kevin,

I change my pre CAT filter every 10,000 kms and I usually cut them open and I have 1" of residue from the top.

I will be changing my OEM filter every 30,000 kms after cutting open both filters to see the residue buildup.

Our Cat tractors have the 0749 and the book calls for changing them at 250 hrs.
