It's not the end of the world, I'd just take your freebie and smile. So the filter is being replaced by one that is only about 1/2" longer in the media. The shorter filter should do fine...

I brought mine in for warranty work and they told me I was getting a new filter for free and when I got it back it still had the old one on.

Did you already have one of the new media filters on it? I'm thinking the same thing will happen to me when I take mine in because I already have a new filter on it that I got from Eric.

When I saw it was'nt changed I did it myself with one of the ones I got from Eric, I don't remember what style the one I took off was.

Now THAT is getting screwed...

Make a note on the followup survey.

Come to think of it, I never got the followup survey from this campaign.

Well...I know the service manager pretty well at my dealer so I might just call her and tell her I have already started using the new filters and see if she'll sign off on it. That way I won't have to remove the juice before I take it in!

A good dealer may just hand you a filter at your request. ;)

So - just to clarify - the Baldwin fuel filters I bought are still just as good as they've always been right? There isn't a design change that the aftermarket will need to follow OEM?

Ubet if they are #BF7827

All filters for Dmax fuel are produced by the same mfr. The only thing you want to watch is that they are not old units. Mine are all newest units.

The dual pleat is the key. The longer version is a minor upgrade.

All this filter revision really supports our early theory of adding secondary (Mega) filtration...

You said it Kennedy. Just make sure the dealer DOES NOT put the wrong verison on, like they did to my truck. The ONLY one that they are suppose to have in stock is the GM #98017645 AC Delco #TP1298B. All other versions (TP1298 and TP1298A) were suppose to be returned to GM by the dealers. But in my case, the dealer put the 1st generation (TP1298) back on my truck which was WRONG !!!

So whats the difference between the 2nd generation and the 3rd?

Stealer told me it was a different vendor, other than that they were the same. I requested the 3rd generation but they had none in stock. I got the new/old one (2nd generation - TP1298a).

Ok...Ok... So there are three different versions. The first one had no black stripe. The second one has black stripe. Now the third one has no stripe again and has a different shape at the bottom of filter ( must be longer for the LB7) I took my truck to the Chevy dealer for the filter replacment . I thought they were supposed to use the 97385488 = TP1298A filter or were they supposed to use 98017645 = TP1298B filter. Before I left I opened the hood and did see the black stripe around the filter. Thought to myself must be correct filter. So was it ??? Click below for answer.

You are OK running either of the above. The dual pleat is much improved, and the longer one is just a bit more desireable due to length.

My dealer said that the B filter is a triple pleat, the A was a double pleat. Has anyone opened up a B filter to see yet?

If no stripe you better make sure that its the larger filter w/ slight inward at the bottom. Remember, no strip also meant 1st gen....like they did on my truck.....
