I've got an 01, no thermo in the mirror. I would really like to have one in the truck but $300 for a mirror sounds a bit high to me. Does anyone know of a decent, 12V, green or blue display, thermometer out there? If so, please pass on the info. Thanks,

Bought one years ago from Radio Shack. LCD display, made specifically for cars with inside and outside temp display, max and min button so you could show just how cold it had gotten, and ran on a watch battery or something close to that. About $25. May be able to find one online from them, housing was black and no more than one inch tall and three inches wide. Housing was made to stick to dash or anywhere else you might want to hang it.

Sounds like what I am looking for . Could you see the display at night? We get pretty long nights up here. I drive to work in the dark about 6 months out of the year and the trip home is dark 4 or 5 months.

Had a backlight button that you pushed to view display at night or low light conditions. I think I got it in 2000, then bought an avalanche in2002 and put it in my rv to give me inside temp and outside temp. I will check to see if I can get a model number off of it. I am sure radio shack still has them, but don't mistake them with the models that you use in the house to tell you what the outside temp is. They are alot bigger. This one is about the size of a small pack of gum.

Thanks guys. I checked RS. They still sell one, price is now down to $15.00. I'm just not sure about the backlight though. I bought one at Walmart and the light was pretty much useless, took it back. I may just go to the local electronics supply place and buy the components to build my own.
