Is there an easier way to repair the dually bed other than buying a new fender?

I just watched an 05 being repaired. The whole outer rear fender panel comes as a unit and easily clips on. Very simple for most of us. The body shop told me it was twice as expensive (LABOR) to repair it as replace it. The day before I sold my 05 SRW (metal bed sides) someone backed into it and put a small crimp behind the wheel well. Three days and $1900 later it was replaced - took three times the labor a plastic clip on dually did (spotwelds). Don't anybody knock the plastic fenders - they are stronger and thicker than the metal ones by far. I didn't know they could roll metal that thin - like aluminum foil almost. Plastic fender (hand comparison) also seemed heavier than the metal - definately thicker material.

What side do you need? I have access(selling on here for a friend) to a white drivers side......I know you will get it cheaper here than from a dealer or having to buy a whole bed like I did.

I just bought a bed to do my passengers side, so I will be swapping mine.

Here (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45818) is the link

You could use duct tape, mine was cracked so I put duct tape behind it to keep it from getting worse, lasted over a year, and still holding strong... Now I gotta make work of getting it swapped over.

My Dad had a chunk knocked out of his fender on his 2001 duramax dually. We have a friend that used to own a body shop that fixed it by using a fiberglass mixture. It looks brand new, and you can't even tell. Was a whole lot cheaper than having to get a whole new panel for him. If you want more details, I can ask him exactally what he used and did. Hope this helped you out.

The motorcycle shops have an epoxy made especially for plastic. Some of the bigger body shops have a plastic "welder". Not likely found at the dealer.
