My 2004 GMC 2500 HD D/A was hit by another driver in January of this year and I am getting a case together to try and recover diminished value on the vehicle from his insurance. I have not had any sucess with his insurance and have filed a court case in small claims court and now they are trying to settle it, but are not close to my numbers yet. Just thought if the accident shows up on a Carfax report that it may give me some more bargining tools to squeeze them some more. The ID number is 1GTHK29204E353456. Thanks in advance for any help.

Looked it up--The accident isn't showing up on CARFAX. Good luck trying to collect from the insurance company for diminished value, I highly doubt you will win however if you think you can win go for it.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is DP? I am going to look at a 2004 DMax at the end of this week and sounds like a DP search could help.
thanks,

Thanks. Of course I figured that out after I posted that question...doh. I looked at the number of replies in the vin check section. I don't think there is much hope of getting a response.

I am dealing with a similiar case. The adjuster tells me that if I get a certified appraiser (said this could cost up to $1500) they would look at paying me diminished value. Oh, and I have to assorb the cost of the appraisal. Good luck.

Appraisers ca be had for $200.00, just check areound, I did that with a vehicle I had in a lemon law case, don't let them scare you. Besides you can always sue them in small claims court just to bust their balls, that will only cost $50.00 -$100.00.

You can also get a couple of notarized affadavits from used car dealers in your area commenting on how the accident diminished the value of your vehicle (based on their experience and familiarity with the local car market). Presenting that as evidence may help your case.

I filed a case in small claims court against the driver. They are now trying to settle out of court and are getting close to what I wanted. Looks like it may be settled before the court date or at least I hope so. Been busting heads with this bunch since Feb. with no results and two days after the case was filed, they are coming around.):h
