I was towing a medium size Kubota tractor with front-end loader and bushhog attachment. 16 foot tag along trailer. guessing at the weight, I would say around 8000 lbs total. Edge was set one 1/5. my truck is a 03 , 58000 miles never raced or done a burn out. trans fluid has been changed twice since new. My problem is, pulling up a long steep driveway from a stop, trans in tow/haul, the attitude was showing over 100% slip. truck was still pulling good. It didn't feel as if it was having a problem with the weight. On the trip home the slip was in the normal range 20 to 30% when pulling out until the converter locked. Should the trans slip this much when pulling out with a heavy trailer or should I prepare for a rebuild??????????????? also trans temps never got above 180 degrees.

We need to do a sticky on the Edge slip before lock-up. Wish Edge would tell there customers about this. Maybe a ( Dont look at this till lock-up) on the screen.

Yes, high slip percentages is normal when the TC has NOT locked.
Set your attitude to display the gear the transmission is in, when there is a LOCK next to the gear (2-5), you shouldnt see slipage past .06%. If it is NOT locked, then yes, you will see all ranges of slipping.

And I'm not convinced it's worth a **** as an indicator of slip even when the converter is locked!

well that makes me feel a lot better guys. But if thats the case, then what the ****** does the slip % mean. should I just ignore it until the converter locks up
