a friend of mine has a friend of a friend, that knows a fella that has a brother with this truck he is parting out.

a 1993 1 ton 4x4 reg cab with an F code 6.5 TD. 110K miles, and it is currently totalled as it was broad sided and bought back from the insurance company.

i just got the entire engine minus the new injector pump for $100. this includes ps, air vacuum pump, alt, complete from upper plentum to oil pan....all for $100! its mine as of an hour ago.

the turbo is a GM-3, so i hope it will fit and work as good as the GM-4 i have on there now. the gm-3 turbo is real tight, as it was replaced not that long ago as a remanufacture. heck, the turbo alone was worth the $100.

a few q's to you pros out there..............

1) will this GM-3 function the same and fit the same as the GM-4 that i have on there now?

2) is a 1993 block worth doing a complete rebuild on? i need it to be a daily driver, long hauler, and an ass kicker!

i plan on the 4 bolt main set up (forgive me, i forgot what it is called)
18 to 1
new beefy injector pump
new stronger heads

and all the goods i have now for the new motor.

any suggestions fellas?

The gm-3 is the same as a gm-4 I believe, just a different wastegate. But the vacuum actuator should be able to be swapped for the spring type. The 93 block is the same as your 94(599), good block but does not have the oil spray pistons(been told thats actually a good thing). But the 599 blocks are supposed to be the heavier castings from GM.
