: Too much fun!!
scottdiesel 09-16-2005, 12:07 PM For all of you that says the power is addictive, you're right!
Installed the Edge EZ this morning (less than 10 minutes) and set it on level 2. I hoped the truck would start right up...and it did. I listened for any new noises...none, sounds just like it did before the EZ. Started down the road gently like normal and nothing felt different. The road opened up, no traffic so I got into it a little and then the power came on...cool:ro)
Then I put it to the floor and WOW...this is to much fun.:ro) :ro) A nice puff of black smoke and this big 3500 dually took the F*** OFF! The power comes on smooth, no hard or abrupt shifts...me likes a lot:muahaha:
I'm afraid to go to level 3...I don't have an EGT guage and I know I'll like it too much. Level 2 is plenty of power for me. I'm going back out to try level 1 to check out the difference.
If you want something easy to install, lets you keep the rest of your truck stock, provides more towing power and will put a big, stupid grin:) on your face this is the module for you.
maxno2 09-16-2005, 12:26 PM Does the EZ have the ability to "shift on the fly" - i.e. and in-cab power level switch?
I have the predator now - which I really like, but would love to be able to "kick it up" on demand.
Great, thanks for the info. Post the results of what you thought about Level 1 also if you would. I have been trying to decide between an Edge EZ and a DiabloSport Pretator. Not sure if I want the 'on the fly' changing ability of the Edge or the extras of the programmer. I know there are a ton of posts about these, but the more I read the more undecided I become.
Thanks
McRat 09-16-2005, 12:33 PM I'm impressed with the Edge EZ. Now we need an Edge Hot for LLY's.
DSTRBD 09-16-2005, 12:48 PM maxno2- Yes it is switchable on the fly via in cab toggle switch.
scottdiesel 09-16-2005, 01:22 PM A quick test of level 1. There is definately a noticable "seat of the pants" difference from stock, a nice fit between stock and level 2. Not as much smoke as level 2. From my short tests of level 1 and level 2 both are very driveable, easy shifts, no weird noises. The power comes on very smooth. I didn't try to power brake or smoke the tires and I won't be trying any of that stuff. Don't know about MPG yet, way to soon to tell. I left the toggle switch under the hood...I have no clue as to getting the cable through the firewall and into the cab.
This is a nice product. It does what Edge says it will do. And seems to be a well made unit.
I guess I'm gonna have to get an EGT gauge setup (just to keep an eye on the temps and if I feel like trying out level 3)...Anyone know about what a stand alone EGT gauge should cost plus installation? GM can't say anything about a EGT a stand alone gauge voiding the warranty...can they?

Did you notice additional power from a dead stop, or mainly after the truck got moving and the turbo spun up. I have read some others say it does not provide much additional HP at low RPMs or from a dead stop. I'm not looking to 'lay some tire' but just be able to pull out quickly in traffic if needed.
Am leaning toward the Edge EZ myself and just wandering.

Good question...From a dead stop there was a noticeable difference from stock in level 2, but very little if any in level 1. Level 1 seems to kick in more after things get moving along.
McRat 09-16-2005, 01:47 PM From my experience, the Edge EZ will improve the "off-the-line" acceleration substantially, but then again, so do most tuners. This is just SOTP though.
Kendoo 09-17-2005, 04:09 PM Scottdiesel,
Alright, you have 2 days with it now. Do you feel it was the right choice? Any other likes/dislikes?
RickDLance 09-17-2005, 04:16 PM Get yourself on the BS list. You will love it!

Geeeeezzz, yes I think I made the right choice for me.
I also want to revise what I wrote regarding my first quick test of level 1 yesterday. I originally said that there was little if any difference off the line in level 1. I clocked about 220 miles today some on the highway some around town. I removed the EZ drove around for several miles, put it back on and there is noticeably more power at take off in level 1 compared to stock and level 2 there is even more. I enjoyed driving around in level 1, plenty of extra power to pass and overall driveability is excellent as is level 2.
For my purposes the EZ is perfect. Plenty of power to pass, off the line response is great (level 2 is a lot of fun) and the power comes on nice and smooth. I don't know if you are going to burn your tires off with it but that is something I'm not going to try. Once I get an EGT gauge, and maybe a boost gauge, I'll try level 3. So, if you have reasonable expectations and don't want to fry your transmission and don't want to make costly tranny modifications to your truck I would say buy the EZ and enjoy.
If you want to race your truck, modify your transmission, get gauges/Attitude and buy some extra tires buy the Edge Juice and kill some punk kids in their Civics of whatever those little rice burner crap cars are.:grd:
azfabshop 09-17-2005, 10:04 PM Scott, I think you would be ok to put it on level 3 and check it out! Your EGT's with the EZ shouldn't get outta control just for a few seat of the pants checks, just don't keep it there and blast some mountain roads or tow! ):h I don't have the restraint you have. I had to put mine on 5 the first day and get it out of my system. A $7K transmission is a hell of a motivator for me to keep it below level 3 though!
Kendoo 09-18-2005, 11:59 AM Scott,
You and I are on the same page. I think You've talked me into the EZ. Thanks for the info.
