I am looking into purchasing a 05 with a 6.6 in it. I travel alot and do some hauling. I would like to ask a few questions.
How much pulling power change is there?
How much to get a conversion kit installed roughly?
I know there are stations out there that sell bio. How much do they charge per gallon roughly?
If I was running realy low and no bio station around can I just put regular fuel in temporarly.
Which bio is best to run.
Now I plan on putting another fuel tank in the back of the truck to fill up before hauls but just wanna make sure.
Thank You for your time.
I have done searching on this forum but most of you guys are using abreviations and some words I am unfamiliar with.

Biodiesel will work WITHOUT any changes. I didn't notice much change in power when running full biodiesel. May loose a little MPG, but not a lot.
I have run 100% biodiesel so any blend upto there will be ok.
All I suggest you do is carry a few extra fuel filters for a while because the biodiesel will flush out the crap in your tank and lines (if any) and the filter will clog with it.

I've been running 100% biodiesel in my 2005 for 6 1/2 years with no problems. To answer your questions:
Estimates vary but there is about 1-2% less energy in biodiesel vs. petroleum diesel
No conversion kits are required to run biodiesel. Be aware there is a difference between biodiesel and waste veggie oil
Prices vary from as much as $0.25 cheaper than regular diesel to $0.50 more expensive
Biodiesel is completely interchangable/mixable with regular petroleum diesel
The best bio is that that is processed correctly

I see that you are able to use biodiesel without change. If I'm able to run waste veggie oil is a conversion required?

There is some work/modifications required to run WVO, such as an additional tank with plumbing. I don't know all the details, but there is a guy here in the PDX area on this board that is running WVO in a duramax with success.

I just checked to see what his username is and it is Basshopper. Maybe send him a PM with questions.

Sweet!!! Thanks, I work with a guy that brews his own. He uses oil, will check and see if it's WVO or Bio, but figured I could buy form him for half of what they charge at the pump we both win!
