what is the project?

During a head gasket replacement, you REPLACE the head bolts, at they are torque to yield bolt, and stretch. After the bolts are streched they loose their clamping ability during the next torque down.

You can get new bolts by the set at your local auto parts store, Felpro makes em.

I believe they're 12X1.25mm. Don't quote me, maybe somebody has the data from the manual. I can look it up when I get home. I'll check for posts tomorrow and if you don't have the answer, I'll look to see if I can find it. Fred

I'm in process of rebiulding my 6.2 for conversinon in my Nissan patrol (2.8td) and was told that i should change the bolts also. I'm looking on ebay but dont seem to find any (all are for gasoline engines).

Call up Advanced Auto Parts, O'Reilly Auto, Autozone, etc. They all have them or can get them.

I didn't find the thread specs but I would just go to your local auto parts and get a new set.
