I have a older HP GM Tech II I bought new in 99 Thats updated to 2011. Turns out I need a Can-Di module for it to communicate with my 06 LBZ, All Ive been able to find is Chinese crap on the internet/Ebay.

My Question is... Anybody have any experiance with cheap/Chinese ones?
Anyone know where to get a used Vertronix Can-Di module?
When did the Duramax start using CAN style comunication?

I have a chinese knock-off CANdi module. It was like 140 bucks (brand new) shipped or something?

I use it all the time, zero problems. Even looking at it you cant tell the difference from a "genuine" CANdi module. It has a one year warranty. Although if it ever does crap out im sure it would be like pulling teeth to actually get it warrantied. :)

(my Tech 2 is a real genuine SPX/OTC Tech 2 though)

I know two other people who have the knock-off chinese CANdi modules as well, and theirs have been flawless as well...

Thank you!! Mine is a genuine Tech II made by Hewlett Packard for GM, I bought it through a GM dealer I used to work for.

Your OTC Tech II does more than just GM doesnt it? I wish mine did;)

As far as I know, all Tech 2's are the same as far as capability. Doesnt matter whether it was made by bosch, GM, SPX/OTC, HP, Vetronix, etc......

Its like buying a dell versus buying a gateway PC..

My CANdi module took a shit on me and I looked around and found them on line anywhere from $400 to $650. I bought the cheap one and it works great. As Ben said, can't tell it from the read deal, same factory probably makes all of them. All I had to do is put on the decals. Be sure to get your TEC 2 upgraded from time to time. I just take mine to the local gm dealer and get someone one to upgrade it for me for a few bucks.
