AFE stage 2 users:


I've been in contact with AFE Filters asking about the compatibility of the AFE Stage 2 and 2004 Chevys. I just received a reply back from an AFE technical engineer and he stated,
<DIV>"Yes, actually, we have confirmed that it will not fit. There has been a change in design.</DIV>

My AFE 2 stage bolted right in my 04. The only thing that was off, was the rubber isolater stud was a hair too long. I replaced it with one that was about 1/4" shorter.

Anybody been to AFE headquarters? Is it a small business? The reason I ask is, when I called to inquire about the compatability with the 2004s, the tech stated, "We've been meaning to get one of those 2004s (Chevys) in to check but we haven't got around to it. Check back with us in a month or two." That response threw me for a loop. You would expect that response from a mom and pop kind of shop but AFE, one of the supposed industry leaders in air filtration?


Don't get me wrong. I've heard great things about their products from forum members but my expectations are high. This is my first truck. I want do things right and with the right companies. Maybe 2004 Chevy owners interested in AFE could send an email to help motivate AFE product development.
