Hey All,

So we bought a new company truck for our new salesman. 2004 Duramax w/ LB7, anyhow, he called me today saying he ran it out of gas, so I explain the bleeding process to him. HE calls back, says its not working. So i tell him to tow it to the dealer, who then tells me that my salesman filled the ****en thing with gas. and that it toasted all 8 injectors. Is this possible? isn't their some kind of dummy sensor?

Let me know how I should proceed, cause they are telling me that i'm on the hook for repairs.

thanks,
tj

They don't know it toasted all 8 injectors.

I would get it away from that dealers hands. Drain the tank, change the filter etc. Once you get it running it will probably run like new.

I agree with Max Power. Try to fix it yourself before you spend thousands.

if you run these trucks out of gas it's trouble?

if you run these trucks out of gas it's trouble? No. Running out of diesel fuel and then filling your truck up with gas is trouble.

It does take a while for the newbies to think "fuel" instead of "gas". We were all there once.

I agree with Max. Do-it-yourself. Then kick your employee in the shins for running it out of fuel....

Kick the employee real hard. You should be able to just drain the tank, change the filter, fill the tank with diesel, put some diesel additive in it, and prime the system and be good as new!

When you first get the truck running after you prime it, let it idle for a little bit for any gas mixture to get burnt out. Last thing you need is a run-away engine.

I doubt the injectors are toast.

I wonder if the balance levels and return levels on injectors are different with gas than diesel, and the tech, seeing higher levels thinks bad injectors?

What Andrew said! Drain, replace filter, FUEL, and go....

thanks for all the replys, unfortunatly the truck is in another province or I would do the work myself.

it also looks like there is more to the story: he call BCAA and they came and gave him a bit of "diesel", well low and behold, the bastards gave him gas.

so we will see what happens

Push the dealer to just do as Andrew said. I, too, doubt the injectors are "toast". Other people have accidentally put gasoline in their tank and after draining it and refilling with diesel, didn't have a problem. IIRC, one guy even dumped a few quarts of tranny oil in his tank and DROVE his truck around on the gasoline mixture. Not that thats recommended, mind you...

You do realize the towing service brought gasoline because your employee told them he "ran out of gas"....Now you should box this employees ears besides kicking him in the shins.

Oops sry didn't see that gas was put in rather than fuel as for the newbie comment their all the same gas is just the product and "fuel" is a by product of making gas so really there is no reason to get crazy about it yes there is a difference but I'm new to your forum not trucks....

but even if that was said, the towing service should have known better then to fill the truck. it does day on the fuel door "diesel only" and the tow guy is the one who fills the vehicle if it is his gas can
