Brought my truck to the dealer today due to some clunking noises while going over bumps. Recently had tie rods and idler arms replaced. They checked it out and replaced the intermediate steering shaft under "good will" for no cost. Anyone else have this done?

They changed my intermediate shaft for the steering clunk. It fixed it for a while, but I am going to have them look at it again. It fixed the problem for about 1-2 months.

Dealer just did mine a month ago and so far so good! No more rattle on rough roads.

I've replaced 1000 or so since '99, you would think they would have that fixed by now. It'll make noise again sometime......

I've been wondering what's up with that "feel" in my steering wheel. Heck, I've been looking all over the front end for loose stuff. I'll take mine to the dealer asap. Thanks.

Ive had i think 4 of them put in just over a yr...Plus they attempted to "regrease" the one that came in when i bought it...They changed it back in May, and the one they put in was worse then the one that came out...New one again couple weeks ago, made the stupid noise again today...

my new shaft was clunking again in less than a month -:t

pulled mine @ 17,000 miles. Found less than a level teaspoon of grease on the wrong (lower) side of the splines. Used the Generals greasing kit per the instructions, 30,000 now and all is well. If the new shafts have the same amount of grease on the same side of the splines there all doomed to rattle.

Mine was clunking and I had the grease kit done @ 9K miles. Now @ 53K miles it's starting to do again.
