A few months ago I installed the fuel filter adapter with the CAT 1R-0750 filter. A couple days ago I got on it hard to pass somebody, and it feels like my truck is starving for fuel. Yesterday I replaced the filter, and the truck is still doing the same thing. I followed Nick's directions and even installed the new filter head o-ring rebuild kit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Need to confirm that is the issue by using a scan tool to read the ECM data with what the commanded fuel rail pressure is to be and what the CP3 is actually putting out to see if it is keeping up. If not keeping up more than likely a lift pump will fix that if the tune you are running is pretty high power.

^ what he said. A raptor pump would do numbers for you. You did remove ball and spring, correct?

I am running level 2 on my PPE, and yes I removed the check ball and spring. Just to let you know I did not have this problem with my stock fuel filter setup. This only started when I installed the Nicktane adapter.

Like mentioned seeing the fuel rail pressure data between the stock filter and the nicktane adapter will confirm if the filter adapter is the cause. So running a stock filter works fine. Maybe a defect in the adapter. Contact them and see what they will do. Maybe send you a replacement.

Hi,
I've done the same testing on my truck and i respectfully disagree. my dually has a built motor and has no problem holding rail pressure in the 600HP range. if you measure the orifice sizes in the adapter you will see the exceed that of the smallest passage in the stock filter. I have sold plenty of these to guys who drag race and sled pull with built motors and we haven't had a problem.
i see this being brought up on stock trucks in the 350-400hp range. the fuel demand on a mildly tuned truck is significantly less hence a modded truck would suffer more, not less if it were really a problem with the adapter.
just to triple-test this, i disabled my lift pumps in my dually so i'm running 2 filters (big CAT filter in the back on my auxiliary kit and an adapter up front on the OEM filter head). i can go out and hold commanded rail pressure in my 500HP tune. my biggest tune won't hold it w/o the lift pump but that's always been the case even prior to the adapter's existence.
