I prefer the look of the in channel vent shades. Decided to go with the AVS that tape in the channel. The passenger front window has clipped the rear corner and cracked it twice in the same place. Once after 1 week, AVS sent new set, cracked again after 3 weeks. Other 3 windows are perfect. AVS customer service has been great to deal with. I guess I will have to go with the ones that tape on the outside.
Anyone else tried the AVS in channels? Any problems?

I love the look of the in-channel weather deflectors as well.
I never even knew that such a thing existed for the longest time until saw a suburban cruising down the road with a set on them. It was right then that I decided I had to have a set.
My searches turned up nothing for months, and I was sad :(. That was, until I saw a small advertisement on some random car-oriented site I happened to be surfing at the time (I forget what it was) that was for a company called WeatherTech. I checked them out, and even watched the video that they have showing how they install, after which I ordered them, and... They're awesome :)
They don't tape inside they channel, they're held there simply by pressure and geometry (it sounds weird, I know) and I've never had a problem with them breaking, falling out, or otherwise getting destroyed. I'd suggest you take a look at them, they're pretty slick and you can get them in a couple different shades, depending on your tastes.
The link for their site should be in my sig.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the weathertec's. Maybe the tape on the AVS's make them too thick in some applications.

I had a set of in-channels on my '02. If the thin mount flange cracks or breaks at all, they won't stay in your window. And it is very important to get the friction tape in the right spot on the front window sills.....
Yes, I know what happens if these things aren't done correctly....the visors look like boomerangs when they fly off your truck at 70MPH.

I'll second the weathertechs, they are great, and the best part, no drilling, no tape, etc. Very easy to install........:ro)

I don't have factory tint, so I can't really say on that, but... The dark charcoal look nice on a black truck :)
