I'm stuck between the edge ez and the edge juice with attitude. The edge ez is much cheaper, but then after the installation of gauges the price will come out close to the juice with attitude. The thing is I really dont care for the extra power settings on the juice. I just want a little bit more power with trying to spend as little as possible. Also I'm new to these tuners, I've been hearing a lot about versions. Can somebody clarify which version I should get or which one is better. Or if anyone has a suggestion on some other tuners or chips that are good. Thanks

It is addicting, you'll want more power :)

Go with the attitude.

I bought the Edge EZ ($318.00...brand new). I just want a little more power for towing. I'm not going to race my truck. I was told if you only use setting 1 or 2 you don't really need guages or the Attitude monitor. My truck won't see level 3, it is not recommended to tow in level 3. It was just delivered Tuesday, I have not installed it yet but looks to be very easy to install.

bcarricarte- You will be happy with either one you choose. The J/A does have some extra features that you cant get with a standard set of gauges. You say that you dont want the extra power, but once you get it its a whole nother story! Give us a call, maybe we can help with pricing as we have been giving extra discounts on these units to dieselplace members.

If you want good power and dont want to spend some major $$ go with predator. Predator is easy to install, a lot cheaper (about $300) and if you want to you can play on 120 extra horses.
Its addicting!...have fun

oh, and I also have EDGE, I have recently stacked them...all in all the predator will smoke EDGE (on certain boost/fuel levels ect.) But I love the attitude...alot better than guages.
Heck...just put EDGE on 120HP and Predator on 120HP....its really fun trust me! tranny doesnt like it...but hey if she *****es get rid of her ass and buy a tranny that says "IS THAT ALL YOU GOT?!?!"

Dmax05....you better save up for that tranny fast. You're going to need it.....

As for the chip question, go with the J/A. I know you don't want the extra power levels, but I'll give you 4 reasons why it's a better unit:

1) Power is addicting. The first time you run that EZ on 65, you'll say to yourself "Damn, I need more!". Thats just the way it is. PLUS, you can upgrade it to "Hot" for more power.

2) The Attitude is a nice compact gauge setup, and it also protects your trans from overpowered conditions (as far as it can, that is)

3) The J/A will have a better resale value if you ever decide to sell it.

4) DSTRBD is one hell of a vendor. He and Edge will definitely treat you VERY WELL!

Well although its a tough call mainly because the EZ is soooo much cheaper I'm most likely gonna pick up a juice with attitude and this is mainly due to having the attitude moniter and all the benefits that it carries. My truck will never see 4 and 5. Although I'm wondering if you can run the attitude moniter with the edge EZ does anyone know. Thanks

We'll check back with you in a couple of months, and see if that Attitude didn't get clicked into 4 or 5 by accident a few times....

I don't think you can hook an Attitude up to an EZ. From the looks of it, the EZ is a stripped down Edge box.

. . .My truck will never see 4 and 5. . . .

:funnypost     :muahaha:

It'll see a 4, then it'll see a 5, then it'll find out what a new tranny feels like cause you'll want propane and more power!

I am still on original tranny at 42k and I run in L4, and occasionally play in 5.

Just wait and see, wait and see...

I definetly recommend the Edge/Attitude. The EGT gauge on the Attitude is helpful when towing. And it has a bunch of safeguards to keep you from hurting your engine and tranny. I just stacked my Edge with a 90hp PPE HOT Xcellerator tune. Im not going to play with the PPE HOT "Extreme" tune until I do my tranny, but on the 90hp setting, the Edge stacks very well with the PPE, all the way up to level 5 on the Edge. Lift pumps are a must tho. Start out with the Edge...then when you get addicted to power, stack the PPE HOT with it (if thats still the hottest thing for the LLY in the future...).

I appreciate all the input and after going back and forth I've finally made my decision and I purchased the edge EZ. I wasnt really looking for a ton of more power, just a little bit more bite when I put my foot on the gas. The main reason I chose this was the 330 dollar difference.

:wtf: :damnit1: :confuzeld :cookoo:
Dont need the power! I would rather have too much then not enough!
I am willing to bet he upgrades in a few weeks! lol j/k
Anyway have fun!

Got my 1st GMC Duramax during first week in Aug and now have 11K miles on odometer. If I keep it at 55-60 MPH on the hiway, I get 20MPG, but as speed goes up, MPG drop. At 70-75MPH, I get 16MPG.

Yesterday, I met a fellow at the car wash who bought his '05 GMC in July and claims he was getting 16.5 MPG in the city until he istalled the Edge J/A (operates it in 4th mode) and now gets 26MPG. Claims he hasn't taken a hiway trip so he can't comment on hiway MPG. Anybody else heard of such an increase?

Second, and probably the most important, any comments on whether the Edge J/A will void any factory warranties?

Get your name on a Boost Stick. You will love it!

Have you ran the boost stick with the EZ? How does it compare to the predator w/ the boost stick? I here so many complaints about the predator causing transmission shift problems, however you seem to like it?

If I can ever put this OH thing to rest I may be able to start having some fun with tuning.

I have 4 Predators and one EZ. I do like the Predator for the lowest setting and forget. As far as shifting problems I have found that if you start at the lowest setting and work your way up one setting at a time in one week intervals the tranny barely notices it.

The EZ, as with all the Edge stuff, has that cool little shift on the fly feature that rocks when you want to show off!! Unfortunately, as with all the Edge products I have played with on the LLY's, they have some weird surging going on. I will put my EZ back on next week to test Fingers BS.
