Installed a UC6 into a 06 Silverado. Originally had a single CD HU. Seems to work except there is no volume. Also, the volume "bar" does not display when the nob is turned? This radio was sold to me as a non Bose system, looking at the previous posts I think it may be a Bose system which may be my problem. It looks just like the one in picture of the PDF file that was posted for switching amps. The part # is 15179349, supposedly out of a 05 Tahoe does anyone know if this is a bose system.
If it is a BOSE system and will not work with my non bose then I will be looking to sell this cheap if anyone is interested.
Please advise
thanks

You need to head to the dealer for a software re-program. Sounds like the wrong version of software for your truck is isntalled on the radio. Certain versions will allow the radio to work, with no audio. (experience talking here.)
Doesn't matter if it was in a bose or non bose system. It is the same radio, just different programming.
Dealers will charge from $40-85 to re-program the radio.

I still have my factory Bose speakers if you want them.

I third that. You have to have a dealer reprogram the radio for your truck. THEY AREN"T PLUG-AND-PLAY.

He couldn't use them in his truck without a Bose amp and EXTENSIVE rewiring. Just not workable IMO.

Yeah, I dont even know if there is "non-Bose" software programming for UC6's either. Obviously there is the common non-lux UC6 Bose programming, and then the LUX Bose UC6 programming, for the Hummer's, but I dont know if they have written software to make the UC6 work with non-Bose systems. You could try tho...actually now that I think about it, I have seen some of the "luxury" Express/Savanna conversions have UC6's. So there must be software somewhere...look on ebay for an Express/Savanna with a UC6 and then get that VIN.

Ben,
There is a non-Bose UC6 program. I just don't know what part number it is.

Ahhh alright, thanks Tom...I did some digging and a UC6 is kind of an "unspoken" option on the Express and Savanna van's...and I remember a long time ago, some guy on the GM Trucks forum got a UC6 working in his regular cab Sierra.

Because your truck did not have this radio for an option, your dealer won't be able to use your VIN to look up the correct program. They also have this phobia against installing upgrades. You will have to have the tech actually get off his duff and LOOK in the TIS-2000 computer for the correct program. Its there, he just has to actually look for it.
